Wound Care Programme

TRAINING

Training can occur either on an annual basis or as a one-time event, and can be conducted in the form of workshops, conference, webinars, and hands-on activities (e.g. train the trainers). Among the annual/ frequently or generic training that have been conducted are:

1. Conference such as National Wound Care Conference, Regional Wound Care Conference

2. Workshop or seminar such as Wound Care Training Surveillance

3. Hands-on acitvities such as Training the trainer (TTT), Wound Care Surveillance Training

Training of Trainers Workshop for Wound Care Professionals

• Training of Trainers workshop for wound care professionals was held to equip experienced clinicians with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective trainers in the field of wound care. This workshop focuses on developing participants' ability to deliver high-quality education and training sessions to other healthcare professionals and aims to create skilled trainers who can contribute to the continuous professional development of wound care professionals, ultimately improving patient outcomes and promoting best practices in wound care management.

• Training of Trainers Workshop were conducted three times in 2015 and 2016, and the training was given by international wound care experts to the National Wound Care Committee members. Currently the Training of Trainers Workshop continues to be conducted regularly at state level, involving medical officers, assistant medical officers and nurses in wound care team at primary care clinics and hospitals.

National Wound Care Conference

• The National Wound Care Conference is an event that aims to address the emerging challenges and advancements in wound management, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance patient care outcomes. The objectives of the conference include providing a forum for the dissemination of the latest research findings and innovations in wound care, facilitating networking and collaboration among professionals in the field, promoting interdisciplinary approaches to wound management, and enhancing participants' knowledge and skills through engaging workshops and educational sessions.

• The conference was held annually since 2014; however, since 2017, the National Wound Care Committee decided to organise the conference once every two years.

• Participants: Wound care clinicians, health personnel involved in wound care, researchers, educators, industry experts



Workshop on Wound Care Surveillance

• The Wound Care Surveillance aims to provide health care practitioners with an evidence-based system for the prediction, prevention and management of wounds. The objectives of the surveillance include estimating the total burden of wound managed by the wound care team in the selected hospitals, determining the characteristics of wounds (such as types of wounds, dressing procedures, and materials used), assessing the outcomes of wound care, and providing a standardized tool for hospitals to identify targets for quality improvement.

• The Workshop on Wound Care Surveillance is conducted to train the hospital staff involved in data collection, management and analysis of Wound Care Surveillance in MOH hospitals.

• The Workshop on Wound Care Surveillance at the national level was conducted in 2017. Currently, the workshop is held periodically at the state level by invitation to the National Wound Care Committee secretariat.
