National COVID-19 Mortality Surveillance and Review has been conducted since March 2020 in response to the pandemic. The main aims are to monitor magnitude and trend of death as well as investigating factors contributing to Covid-19 death in the country. These findings are then used for improvement in the clinical and preventive management of the disease. Clinical Audit Unit under the Medical Care Quality Section, Medical Development Division lead this initiative, working hand-in-hand with the clinicians, Public Health Programme, State Health Department and District Health Office to collect reliable data in timely manner.
