Credentialing and Privileging (C&P) only apply to certain healthcare professional. Credentialing is a two-pronged process that involves establishing requirements and evaluating individual qualifications for entry into a particular status / specialty based on predetermined professional training requirements and experience. Credentialing first involves considering and establishing the professional training and experience. The second aspect of credentialing involves obtaining and evaluating evidence of the qualifications of individual applicants. Privileges on the other hand is the right of a health care provider to provide specific care that is consistent with his/her training, experience and competency.
