INFECTION PREVENTION AND CONTROL (IPC) SEMINAR IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATIONAL WORLD HAND HYGIENE DAY (WHHD)
2024 CELEBRATION
June 10, 2024
May 5 has been declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as World Hand Hygiene Day. This year’s World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) 2024 carries the theme “Promoting knowledge and capacity building of health and care workers through innovative and impactful training and education on infection prevention and control, including hand hygiene” with the slogan “Why is sharing knowledge about hand hygiene still so important? Because it helps stop the spread of harmful germs in healthcare.”
In this regard, the Infection Control Unit, Medical Care Quality Section, Medical Development Division in collaboration with the Infection Prevention and Control Interest Group for the Malaysian Society of Infection Control and Infectious Diseases (MyICID) organized the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Seminar in Conjunction With National World Hand Hygiene Day (WHHD) 2024 Celebration on June 10, 2024, online.
The WHHD 2024 celebration was opened with a welcoming speech by Dr. Azlihanis Abdul Hadi, Deputy Director of the Medical Care Quality Branch, and subsequently officiated by YBhg Dato’ Dr. Mohd Azman Yacob, Director of Medical Development, who represented the Deputy Director-General of Health (Medical).
The WHHD 2024 celebration and IPC Seminar received enthusiastic participation from health sector members in both public and private sectors, with a participation count reaching approximately 5,000 people through Zoom and YouTube Live platforms. It is hoped that all the knowledge shared by the speakers will be beneficial and serve as a guide in carrying out IPC activities in the field.
