YBhg. Datuk Dr. Nor Fariza binti Ngah, Deputy Director-General of Health (Research and Technical Support), represented YB Datuk Seri Dr. Dzulkefly Ahmad, Minister of Health, in officiating the Malaysia Antimicrobial Resistance (MyAMR) Conference 2024
held from July 16-18, 2024
Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
As a continuous effort to raise awareness and knowledge among healthcare professionals regarding the threat of AMR, the Infection Control Unit, Medical Development Division, and Pharmaceutical Services Program of the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) collaborated with the Malaysian Society of Infection Control and Infectious Diseases (MyICID) to organize this conference. Over 900 participants attended, comprising medical specialists, microbiologists, medical officers, pharmacists, research officers, nurses, assistant medical officers, and various other disciplines from the public and private sectors.
With the theme "Unite Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR): Fight Resistance with Evidence," this conference provided a platform for leading experts, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and researchers to share knowledge and experiences as well as their research findings related to infection prevention and control (IPC), AMR, and Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS).
During the conference, three guidelines and an online training module were launched, namely:
i) National Antimicrobial Guidelines (NAG), 4th Edition
ii) Malaysian Consensus Guidelines on Treatment of Multi-drug Resistant Gram-Negative Infections
iii) Guidelines for Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) Services in MOH Hospitals
iv) Online Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Module
