Organized by the Infection Control Unit, Medical Care Quality Section, Medical Development Division, and the National Wound Care Committee, in collaboration with the Malaysian Society of Wound Care Professionals, the Malaysian Association of Wound Clinicians, and ILKKM Seremban Sports & Welfare Club (Assistant Medicine), this 3-day conference attracted 605 health workers, including specialists, medical officers, nurses, assistant medical officers, and other participants involved in wound care. Under the theme "Wound Care: A Decade in Malaysia," the conference celebrated the journey and achievements of the National Wound Care Program established ten years prior. The opening ceremony also saw the launch of the Wound Care Manual 2023, emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration and the utilization of advanced technologies such as "advanced wound dressings" and "negative pressure wound therapy" in wound care. Since its inception in 2009, the National Wound Care Program has fostered various collaborations and developed guidelines like the Wound Care Manuals and Wound Care Training Modules to ensure quality wound care management in Malaysia. During the keynote address by Deputy Director General of Health (Medical), the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in wound care was underscored, emphasizing patient care at the highest standard, based on scientific evidence and best practice. Furthermore, participants were reminded of the future challenges facing the health sector, including the country's aging population and the dual burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and communicable diseases.
