Launching of QHUB

The launching of QHub Malaysia on the 10 October 2024 marked a remarkable debut of the first digital platform bridging more than 40 quality improvement initiatives implemented in the Malaysian healthcare system. This website is aiming to facilitate learning, understanding and utilizing the resources and tools available for quality improvement.

National Policy for Quality in Healthcare (NPQH)

Launched on 5th of October 2021 by Tan Sri Dato' Seri Dr Nor Hisham Abdullah virtually in the Seminar for Quality in Healthcare, the National Policy for Quality in Healthcare (NPQH) for Malaysia – is formulated to guide both the public and private health sectors. It provides an official, explicit policy statement regarding the approach and actions required at all levels of health service delivery across Malaysia's health system aiming to systematically plan for enhancement of the quality of healthcare.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES (QII)

The journey of Quality in Malaysia healthcare system has started since 1980 from the growing awareness on the need for quality in day-to-day work. Following that, in 1985, the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) in the Ministry of Health was developed, which spurred a variety of quality improvement initiatives (QII) in the sector. The QII addressed diverse quality domains including safety, effectiveness, and timeliness. 

BEST PRACTICES

A collection of best practices employed at various level of care in addressing diverse quality problems using different quality improvement methods.

Safety
Avoiding or minimising risk and harm during the process / delivery of healthcare for both patients and providers.
Timely
Reducing delays in providing and receiving healthcare
Effective
Providing the best healthcare services through competent healthcare personnel utilising the best available evidence
Equitable
Delivering healthcare that does not differ in quality according to personal characteristics
Efficient
Delivering healthcare in a manner that makes the best use of the resources while also avoiding waste
People-centered
Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs and values, in partnership with patients and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions
Accessible
Providing better physical accessibility by providing good health services within reasonable reach for needy, better economic accessibility without burdening patient to pay for the services and better information accessiblity for patient to seek information concerning health issues.
